CALMAC CEO SELECTED TO USGBC NATIONAL BOARD

Englewood, NJ – Mark M. MacCracken, Chief Executive Officer of CALMAC Manufacturing, Inc. has been selected to serve a 3-year term on the National Board of Directors of the United States Green Buildings Council (USGBC) manufacturers category.

Board members are selected on the basis of their professional qualifications, as well as their knowledge and experience in Council activities. Additional areas of evaluation include: resources for developing, delivering and servicing products for LEED^® and other Council Programs, ability to design and deliver educational and accreditation programs, technical/scientific expertise, leadership experience and participation in local USGBC Chapters.

“I am acutely aware of the damage we are doing to our planet and want to continue my efforts to reverse this trend,” notes MacCracken on his inspiration to pursue the USGBC Board position. He has dedicated his entire professional career to developing, marketing and producing energy efficient products. He had been the principal investigator on research projects with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) working on solar collectors, solar pumps and Thermal Energy Storage (TES.) He also worked with the Solar Energy Research Institute on ground source pumps and with the Oak Ridge National Labs on TES.

MacCracken is a LEED^® Accredited Professional and a member of the New York Chapter of USGBC, having served on the Chapter’s Board and USGBC National Chapter Steering Committee. He also serves on the board of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institutes (ARI) and chairs the Thermal Storage Equipment Section. An active member of the Alliance to Save Energy and the NJ Sustainable Business Alliance and other environmentally related organizations; he is the former Chairman of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) TES Committee.

MacCracken helped initiated the creation of the chapter’s Executive Director Grant program from National, helped raise funds, served as a member of the Executive Director Search Committee and helped involve USGBC National in New York City legislation.
